Actually, let me make a list. I like lists. 25 things I am and 25 I am not.
- I am Brenna. If you don't know my last name, you don't need to. Besides, what name I give you depends on who's asking! :)
- I feel very much like I am spiritual being having a very mortal experience.
- I am a first born child. And female.
- I share my DNA with two offspring and 4 other siblings.
- I am a married woman. (although, I guess stating that I'm a woman is redundant--see #3.)
- I am a memeber of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a believer and follower of Jesus Christ.
- I am returned missionary for said church.
- I am a high school drop out and a college graduate. (And I almost just spelled college wrong. Now wouldn't that have been convincing?)
- I am a list maker and a procrastinator.
- I am a sewer--about as much, though, as a 3rd year piano student is a pianist.
- I am a teacher in my heart and a mother in reality.
- I am singer who wasn't blessed with a talent to match the volume in which I like to sing to my kids.
- I am a 31 Flavors sample platter of mental illness.
- I am strong willed and struggle with follow-through.
- I am a "red" personality, also an "intj" if you prefer that personality test.
- I am the oldest of 40 grandkids.
- I am the victim of a random swan biting.
- I am an over-achiever who struggles with self motivation.
- I am a beginning knitter.
- I am a make-it-up-as-I-cook kind of cooker.
- I am a day dreamer and night do-er (aka a night owl).
- I am an introvert, homebody and often times socially awkward (and when you read that please read the last word in a high pitched singy type voice) .
- I am a philosopher, a lover of wisdom and learning.
- I am a truth-teller.
- I am introspective. But a funny one.
- a scrap-booker (although, I suppose 15 years ago I was).
- a gourmet chef.
- an awesome house-keeper/laundry folder/put-away-er.
- a beauty queen
- perfectionist (but I do have ocd tenancies. go figure!)
- historian, musician, physician, stylist or cosmetologist or cheerleader.
- a Renaissance crafty person-but I pretend on occasion.
- one of those people who just always look good in pictures.
- nor am I a photographer
- an athlete (unless you count giving birth naturally as being athletic. And if you do, then change that to "I am not a runner, weight lifter, cardio-do-er, yogi." Thanks!)
- a good liar
- an extrovert, despite the fact that I do love talking to people and getting to know them.
- a good phone call answer-er/return-call-maker/email reply-er.
- the incarnate version of a chihuahua, although if I could be any animal, I'd really like to be a sun bear.
- a fan of disney princesses, with the exception of Cinderella. She may be the only one
- a natural brunette
- a lover of all music and movies. I am quite picky.
- naturally a morning person, despite what motherhood as attempted to fix.
- bilingual. sadly.
- someone who easily tans. burning, however, is a different story.
- terribly politically aware.
- a shrinking violet when it comes to standing up for what I believe.
- done with my schooling, despite the BS degree and what my husband says we can afford. Someday I will get my masters degree. I will.
- a fan of reading series books until the entire series is out. (and then it's old news and I forget to read them. So, with a few exceptions, I have given up on a lot of fiction.)
- anywhere close to perfect. duh.
Hi Brenna! It's Tiffany from Springville. Yay for blogging! BTW I love personality tests - I'm an ISFJ or ISFP depending on the day. And I'm a "blue"
ReplyDeletewell lookie there, you are a natural born blogger. I was completely interested in the whole post. I'm usually like a kid with a picture book, if it has to many word I don'tt read. :) there are an occasional few that catch my attention and I have a feeling yours will be one of them. In all reality I am just jealous I don't have the ability to write/type my thoughts in an interesting or witty way. Maybe one day I will work on improving that talent. As for now I will just enjoy your ramblings!!
ReplyDeleteTiffany! Hi! I love you! Red and Blue were meant to be friends, don't you think! I mean, look at the American flag! :)
ReplyDeleteMegan, thanks! I'm sure there will be pictures eventually-I totally agree. I rarely read without pictures anymore!
Honestly, I'm thinking that keeping up with the comments is going to be the most difficult part of the process for me. I read enough of the big blogs to know that its just polite to respond to comments. But seeing as how I struggle to answer the phone/return phone calls/texts and emails, I may be adding to my burden with this! :) But so glad you both are here and reading!!!
Brenna, I take umbrage at all these temporary self-judgments. Still, ... "31 flavors sample platter of mental illness" ? Now that was funny. Just remember, you are not defined by who you are not. That's like saying children aren't human because they aren't done growing into actualized humans. Wait, I think I messed that up ... ;) Love you. Keep writing.
ReplyDeleteno need to be "umbered"...if that's a word :) I am totally aware that these are not exhausted lists, that I am not defined by lists and that these things are just snapshots of me at this particular date. strangely, as I was envisioning the massive and complicated venn diagram and considering all the possible things that i am and am not, i realized that there really is just one category that is "i am brenna", and the unique compilation of these possibilities is what makes me me and the fact that i am the only one who qualifies for that statement is the only thing that makes me qualify for that statement (if that makes sense) and it is in that spot that i am unique. it was kind of cool to see that there could be several people who overlap in every possible area but once you throw in the "I am brenna", suddenly, I become the only person standing. So I guess what I'm saying is that while I'm not defined by what I'm not, what I'm not helps to illuminate what I am just like shadows. And some of those things that I'm not are things I don't really want to be--I'm ok with not being a good liar! :) As a side note, perhaps I should add a 26th statement to what I am: a rival for Kierkegaard and Kant in the way I can use the same phrase over and over again with it meaning something different each time I use it all to "clarify" what the original statement meant using those same words! :) See, there I go again!
ReplyDeleteHey, what a wonderful project! I love it and I love you. You caught my attention and I will keep following your blog! Excellent blog! :)
ReplyDeleteWhomever you are...I sure am glad you are....and I am happy to intersect with you at most of those points on the Venn diagram. Keep up the good work, it is fun reading. Guess the best part of not having anyone ever read my blog is that I don't feel the obligation to respond to comments :) Have a happy day. I love you
ReplyDeleteGREAT stuff,Bee! Writing from the heart is what it is all about! Love you much!
